2 Years Down...wow

The building is empty, and the silence is somewhat disturbing. I keep my door open in hopes that someone will walk in and want to hang out, but that's impossible because the school year is over. All the students are gone for the summer or graduated and scared out of their minds. I take a deep breathe and all of sudden I realize that 2 years have passed by and I have 1 year left as an RD at Geneva. WHAT???

It seems like yesterday I loaded up a UHAUL and slowly made my way up passed the Mason Dixon Line up to Western PA, and soon, before I know it, change will happen again. Another move, another fresh start, another adventure in God's crazy plan for my life.

As for year 2, it was good. It was difficult in different ways compared to the first. Year one I was getting adjusted to a new place, new community, a new job etc. Year 2 was busier, more responsibility and more complexities with personal things because my community was established. The deeper you get into a community the messier and murkier it gets. But with the difficulty came great experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything. My love for students is still strong, and the knowledge I gain from them is undefinable, unthinkable and sometimes dumbfounding. I learn so much from them and appreciate their grace and support so much that they don't even realize.

As much as I miss the students, I am ready for a break and a change of scenery. I realize I will not get a change of pace, but might in fact be busier as I head to camp. God always shows me His Amazing Grace, and gives me strength and perseverance throughout the summer. Somehow I always feel refreshed at the end of the summer and ready to go for another school year.

So here are some pics starting back in August going through the school year and ending a week ago at Graduation.

The Patience of Faith

Here is today's entry May 8th from Oswald Chambers "My Utmost for his Highest"....rocked me in the face

"Because thou hast kept the word of My patience." Revelation 3:10

Patience is more than endurance. A saint's life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says - "I cannot stand any more." God does not heed, He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly. Trust yourself in God's hands. For what have you need of patience just now? Maintain your relationship to Jesus Christ by the patience of faith. "Though He slay me, yet will I wait for Him."

Faith is not a pathetic sentiment, but robust vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. You cannot see Him just now, you cannot understand what He is doing, but you know Him. Shipwreck occurs where there is not that mental poise which comes from being established on the eternal truth that God is holy love. Faith is the heroic effort of your life, you fling yourself in reckless confidence on God.

God has ventured all in Jesus Christ to save us, now He wants us to venture our all in abandoned confidence in Him. There are spots where that faith has not worked in us as yet, places untouched by the life of God. There were none of those spots in Jesus Christ's life, and there are to be none in ours. "This is life eternal, that they might know Thee." The real meaning of eternal life is a life that can face anything it has to face without wavering. If we take this view, life becomes one great romance, a glorious opportunity for seeing marvellous things all the time. God is disciplining us to get us into this central place of power.
